Avalon Productions Presents "Twisted Tales of Poe" — A Haunting Staged Radio Drama Just in Time for Halloween

Marysville, OH — Avalon Productions invites audiences to step into the macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe with Twisted Tales of Poe, a chilling staged radio drama by Philip Grecian. Performances will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM.

Just in time for Halloween, Twisted Tales of Poe breathes eerie new life into some of Poe’s most iconic stories, brought to the stage in a haunting radio drama format. Set in the grim confines of Leverett Street Jail’s Death Warrant Division, doomed prisoners recount the dark paths that led them to their fates — with the audience pulled deep into each twisted tale.

The production features dramatized adaptations of some of Poe’s most unforgettable works. In The Tell-Tale Heart, a caregiver descends into madness, haunted by the sound of a beating heart beneath the floorboards after committing a gruesome murder. The Cask of Amontillado follows Montresor, who lures his unsuspecting victim into a wine cellar during carnival season and walls him in alive as an act of cold revenge. In The Raven, a grief-stricken poet mourns the death of his beloved and is visited by a mysterious black bird that may be a harbinger of his unraveling sanity. Finally, The Black Cat tells the story of a man whose violent crime is brought to light by a supernatural feline force, revealing the guilt and horror lurking within.

Directed with gothic flair by The Avalon Theatre’s Executive Director Ryan Bowie, and performed in classic radio-play style, Twisted Tales of Poe promises spine-tingling suspense, psychological horror, and a fitting tribute to the master of the macabre himself. The talented cast includes Donald Groves, Christopher Murray, Theresa Cooper, Paula Arter, Thomas Smith, and Bronson Buck, who bring Poe’s haunting tales vividly to life.
